Typography

This site is set in Heldane Text, Heldane Display and Söhne Mono by Klim Type Foundry.

Tools I use

This site could not exist were it not for these invaluable tools:

• BBEdit for writing both entries and the code powering the site
• MarsEdit for publishing and editing entries
• Yojimbo for squirrelling away ideas and reference material
• Transmit for doing some heavy lifting between here and there
• iTerm 2 for server management
• 1Password for keeping all the keys sharp and in order
• Movable Type 4.3 for content management and publishing, improved slightly with some custom modifications, and with help from these plugins:
  • Markdown for composing articles, link entries and other pages
  • Widon’t to prevent any widows in titles
  • EscapeForJSON for building the site’s JSON feed
  • HeadingAnchors to automatically make linkable section headers

Respect for the reader

There is no JavaScript, no analytics, no tracking. Fuck all that nonsense.

I serve only valid HTML 5, CSS and RSS because it’s open, fast and means it’s accessible to anyone.

I maintain a change log for the site mostly for myself, but by all means have a look should you find yourself not quite bored enough already.
